Understand your plan and research credits

One balance for Upbiz research. Website setup, AI editing, feedback, history and sponsored opportunities are free.

  1. See your plan, credit balance and renewal or trial date on Overview (Business: Opportunities). Open Settings → Plan & usage for recent credit activity and upgrade options.
  2. Each Upbiz-executed opportunity research request uses one credit per Business, including all Goals, searches, inspections and reviews. Completed empty results use the credit; technical failures return it. An uncertain outcome holds the reservation and never retries automatically.
  3. Externally performed MCP research is included with Start, Grow and Scale and uses zero credits, including Upbiz validation and publishing. Asking the Upbiz engine to execute through MCP instead uses one credit. External AI spending is separate.
  4. Scale can cover a Business workspace and one optional Network with shared credits. Their data and permissions remain separate. A Network pays for sponsored work; its Businesses have their own balances for independent work.
  5. Monthly included credits expire without rollover. Only Scale can purchase non-expiring packs; those credits remain preserved but unavailable if Scale becomes inactive. A Network trial includes time and credits; support may extend time or add credits separately.
  6. This first release is usage preview and Stripe sandbox only. No real payments or new credit-based interruptions occur. Your current testing access remains available.

Programs

Improve Program Goals and Signals before delivery

Ask AI to review one saved Program against a small sample of its Business context, without changing settings or starting research.

  1. Open Programs → Improve Goals & Signals with assistant. The guided assistant selects that Program and lets you adjust the review question before making an AI call.
  2. Review the suggested Goal titles and observable Signals. Business value comes first, timely triggers are prioritized, and specific evergreen opportunities remain eligible. Network growth is a secondary benefit.
  3. Apply suggestions in the ordinary Program editor, review the changes, and run Preview research again. This advice action never changes a Live policy or starts research.

Programs

Set up a Program, import Businesses and let Upbiz work

A standing Program instruction handles website setup, Goals, research and optional recommendation email without repeated approvals.

  1. Open Programs and create or edit a Program for participating Businesses. Turn on Automatic work and choose one-time, daily or weekly research. New Programs start with automation enabled; existing Programs remain manual until you enable it.
  2. Choose whether to email new qualifying public recommendations to each Business contact and set your introduction. Saving authorizes these contacts under this Program; existing spending controls and usage tracking remain in force.
  3. New Programs start in Preview: real website setup and research, with tracked research costs, but no member emails or releases. Review saved recommendations, use feedback and Improve Goals & Signals with assistant, then save Live when ready. Existing Live Programs keep running. Going Live starts a fresh cycle and does not email the Preview backlog. Activity can send a test to your verified signed-in Owner address only.
  4. Open Businesses → Add Businesses → Import CSV. Choose the Program and review the identities once. Commit queues website scans, saves supported profile facts, applies Program Goals and starts research. Reimporting existing Businesses never duplicates the work.
  5. The import opens Activity. See website setup, active Goals, research, qualifying results and email submission/delivery for each Business. Zero results means nothing qualified; no empty email is sent. A missing website or contact shows a specific exception. Correcting a missing contact continues saved delivery without another research run.
  6. In Activity, use Scan websites & research all or Run research for all for enabled Programs. Pause or resume a Business, one Program or all automatic work. Business removal/departure and recipient unsubscribe also stop future work or mail. Already submitted emails cannot be recalled.
  7. Upbiz independently checks public quotations before sharing. Private memory and claims remain private. An unknown provider outcome is held for review, never blindly retried; prior usage stays counted.

Support sign-in from Site admin

The verified Upbiz site administrator can open an existing user’s experience for support or testing.

  1. Open /admin and choose Users in the sidebar. Search by name or email and review the account’s workspace roles.
  2. Choose Sign in as user, enter the support request or testing reason, then Confirm sign in as user. This is an audited support session lasting at most 30 minutes; it does not reveal or change the user’s password or create a membership.
  3. The banner identifies the user. Normal workspace permissions still apply, including Viewer restrictions and private-Goal boundaries. Explicit changes, research and delivery affect real data and use the ordinary review/approval flows.
  4. Password/account security, ownership and invitation acceptance, external connection authorization and site administration are unavailable during support sign-in. Return to Site admin before using these actions.
  5. Use Return to Site admin in the persistent banner. Expired or revoked support sessions block app actions until returned. Users → Recent support sign-ins records the reason, timestamps and attempted change outcomes; workspace audits also identify the support session and admin.

Programs

Add several Businesses to a Program

Choose individual Businesses, select all, or choose a Program when importing a CSV.

  1. In Programs, choose Add Businesses to the saved Program. You can also open Businesses → Add Businesses to a Program and choose the Program there.
  2. Select the Business checkboxes or Select all. Select all includes the entire displayed directory, including names hidden by the selection filter. Check the Program’s eligibility and review the complete target list before Confirm and apply Program.
  3. Each Business has one active Program. Applying another replaces its active Program Goals and preserves separately edited Business Goals and earlier history. Businesses already using the current Program stay unchanged. Applying a Program starts no research or email.
  4. For an import, choose Add Businesses → Import CSV, then Program for imported Businesses. Review identities, eligibility and Program Goals, then Approve import and apply Program. No Program remains available when you want to add records only.
  5. The import applies the Program only to newly added Network participants. Existing participants, duplicate rows and ambiguous identities are left unchanged. A changed Program or unavailable Business requires a fresh review; an approval cannot partially apply.

Request and create your own Network

Network account requests are reviewed by site admin. A new-owner invitation creates a separate workspace; teammate invitations join an existing one.

  1. Open Request a Network account from the sign-in page or public navigation, or visit /request-network. Submit your name, email, Network name, optional website and objective. A request starts no account, workspace, subscription or charge.
  2. The verified Upbiz site administrator uses /admin to review requests, decline with a saved internal reason, or review and send an owner invitation. Ordinary workspace Owners cannot issue new-Network invitations.
  3. Open the private invitation, create an invited account or sign in with its exact email, then review and name your new Network. Invitations expire after seven days and can be revoked before acceptance. Existing users keep their own password.
  4. Create my Network creates one separate empty workspace with you as Owner. Open it to follow Getting started: configure a Program, add Businesses, then explicitly request research. No existing Network or Business data is copied or shared automatically.
  5. Settings → Team is for colleagues joining your existing workspace. It is separate from requesting a new Network account. Paid-plan selection and billing remain future work.

Invite teammates and transfer ownership

Owners manage access; invitations grant nothing until the intended account accepts.

  1. Open Settings → Team. Review the intended email and Owner, Member or Viewer role before sending an invitation. Invitations expire after seven days.
  2. The invited person opens the private email link, signs in or creates an invitation-scoped account using that inbox, reviews the workspace and role, then accepts. General public signup stays disabled.
  3. Ownership transfer needs the recipient’s acceptance. The inviting Owner becomes a Member only after acceptance; the last Owner cannot simply remove or demote themselves.
  4. Owners manage company configuration, research and delivery. Members manage their private Goals and internal team follow-up. Viewers read authorized shared content. A role never grants access to another workspace or another person’s private work.
  5. Revoke pending invitations or review an immediate role change/removal in Team. Removed people lose reads, exports, MCP access and pending work immediately; they receive no 90-day grace window.

Goals & signals

Private Goals and team follow-up

Keep personal work private, share exact Goal fields and adopt company Goals separately.

  1. Open Goals & signals → My private Goals. Create or edit a Goal, review it and confirm. Your preferences apply only to your private research context.
  2. Share these Goal fields opens a review of the exact title, purpose, Signals and illustrative example. It shares no chat, private preferences, notes, research or recommendations. Editing the original withdraws its shared snapshot.
  3. An Owner can adopt the reviewed snapshot as an independent company Goal. The author keeps the private original; later personal edits do not rewrite the company Goal. Owner accounts execute research through the existing explicit research controls and payer checks.
  4. Open Opportunities → Team follow-up on a shared opportunity. Review an assignee, Pursuing/Done status and optional note. No team action / undo clears follow-up independently of personal Saved, feedback and progress. Private-only opportunities have no team follow-up.

End sponsorship or close and export a workspace

Network departure, teammate removal and service closure have different effects.

  1. A Network Owner can open a Business’s Summary and review End this Network relationship. A verified Business Owner can use Settings → Workspace access and export → Leave this Network for a sponsor that published to it.
  2. Departure stops that sponsor’s research, Program participation, pending sends and guest access. It keeps independent Goals, the Business workspace and legitimately acquired permitted published history. Another Network is unaffected. No new payer is selected.
  3. From Published history, an Owner may create an independent Goal from a current published suggestion. Enter your own purpose and Signals; association-private configuration is never copied.
  4. Settings provides paginated downloads of authorized Goals, company profile, recommendations and permitted history. Source-private Network records, tokens and raw research state are excluded.
  5. Closing a workspace stops execution and new delivery immediately. Current members have 90 days to read/export; removed members have no access. After that window the application denies access and bounded reconciliation archives the workspace, clears transient chat/run payloads and expires capabilities while retaining identity, usage, suppression and permitted publication lineage. It does not promise blanket deletion of required retained records.

Review, opt in and pause opportunity digests

Digest subscriptions are separate from research and require recipient consent.

  1. Open Settings → Opportunity digests. Review the Business/contact, Network/company/private audience, timezone, hour, weekly or daily cadence and maximum of five items. Saving starts no email or subscription.
  2. Send confirmation request only to the intended recipient. They review the private preferences page and explicitly opt in. GETs and email scanners do not subscribe anyone. A policy edit requires fresh consent.
  3. Preview next issue shows only current released Network content or your authorized Business context, including permitted Network contributions. Private personal digests use only the author’s context. Unchanged introductions and prior issues are omitted; no new items means no email.
  4. Approve and send this issue is separate from enabling recurring delivery. Review recurring delivery shows the exact standing policy. Pause is immediate; recipient opt-out, bounce/complaint, lost access or changed sender stop dispatch.
  5. Recurrence runs only when the operator invokes the protected existing delivery reconciler. Missed periods coalesce; no backlog or research is started. Provider acceptance and delivered status do not prove inbox receipt.
  6. Unknown provider submissions never retry blindly. Use the matching provider email ID in Delivery history to verify the saved recipient, digest tag and private link without resending. Network issues use the existing invitation reconciler.

Research

Why did research save no recommendations?

See the saved qualification checks and unavailable sources without running more research.

  1. Completed means the run finished; it does not mean every candidate qualified. Research can find candidates and retain them without publishing recommendations.
  2. Open Research → Recent activity → Why these research results? The same explanation is available below a finished Run research now request and in an individual Business’s research history.
  3. Read the candidate-level reasons and inaccessible-source list. Unestablished identity, unsupported claims, missing source receipts, duplicates and irrelevant opportunities remain distinct.
  4. Viewing these checks never calls AI, inspects a website or retries a run. An unchanged failed source or missing approval will not be repaired by repeatedly clicking research.
  5. A chamber’s general networking services can support an evergreen fit, but they do not prove interest in buying Upbiz. Check the saved uncertainty and follow-up step; confirmed demand needs its own evidence.

Use the workspace selected for ChatGPT/MCP

An authorized Business workspace already identifies its own Business and Goals.

  1. When connecting, choose the intended workspace. The consent screen limits that connection to the selected workspace; changing the app’s Workspace selector later does not change its delegation.
  2. Ask ChatGPT to read your current Goals. The connector should call list_workspaces, then use the returned Business beneficiaryId or get_research_context with no IDs when exactly one Business workspace is authorized.
  3. A Network contains several Businesses. The connector uses find_businesses and asks a focused question when more than one context remains possible. It must never guess IDs or interpret a failed lookup as no saved Goals.
  4. After an MCP update, reconnect in ChatGPT to refresh its tool definitions and choose the workspace again. Read-only delegation can read current Goals; it cannot start research.

Claim a Business from its invitation

Verify your inbox and Business authority before opening an independent Business workspace.

  1. Open your email link to view shared opportunities directly. The private link can be reopened on another browser until expiry or withdrawal. Choose Claim your Business only if you want to manage it. Guest access remains usable without registering.
  2. Sign in to your existing account, or create an account using the exact address this current invitation was sent to and sign in. General public signup is disabled. Registration alone creates no Business membership; Business authority and inbox control are verified separately.
  3. Invited registration can use the known Business website and your representative confirmation to request verification automatically. If website details are missing, complete the saved form. Open the private verification email within 15 minutes and sign in to the same account; verification continues automatically. Reopening a verified link shows saved status. Never send the private link to support.
  4. Claims with unestablished identity/domain authority go to Upbiz review. Current imported identities do not carry independent ownership/domain proof, so the first implementation uses this review route. Generic inboxes, shared/franchise domains and existing owners cannot automatically gain ownership. An existing-owner invitation or separate identity review may be required.
  5. Check /claim for saved status. When approved, Upbiz finishes the saved claim and opens the Business workspace automatically; a manual Finish control remains available for recovery. Upbiz rechecks the account, current invitation and ownership before creating or reusing one Business workspace. No research starts, no payer changes and no private Network memory is copied.
  6. Permitted published history appears in Opportunities and Published history from Networks. Ordinary guest withdrawal does not erase legitimately acquired owner history. Source corrections/expiry stop stale actionable content; disclosure withdrawal removes the published payload.
  7. The verified Upbiz reviewer uses /claim → Review claim queue and independently records identity/authority evidence and a decision reason. Reviewing your own claim or overriding another existing owner is not supported. Support tickets alone grant no authority.

Reset a forgotten password

Request a private reset link and choose your own new password.

  1. On upbiz.com, choose Forgot password? on the sign-in screen, or open /forgot-password. Enter your account email. The same confirmation appears whether an account exists.
  2. Check your inbox and spam folder for Reset your Upbiz password. Open the private link within 15 minutes. Never paste or forward the link to another person or support.
  3. Choose and confirm a password with 12–128 characters, then save it. Opening the link alone does not change your password. Successful reset signs out existing sessions and invalidates other reset links.
  4. Sign in again using the new password. If the link is expired, invalid or already used, request a new one. Too many requests require waiting 15 minutes.
  5. Synthetic previews send no email. On a configured hosted app, delivery still depends on your inbox/provider. Support requests require sign-in; ask your Network administrator for help if you cannot regain access.

Sharing & email

Share opportunities and invite a recipient

Review current content, release a recipient view, then separately approve an invitation email.

  1. In Recommendations, select up to ten opportunities for one Business in the desired order, or use Review & share on one card. Review the exact content and permitted evidence.
  2. If evidence is workspace-private, use Verify public sources for sharing to check up to three cited public pages without AI. Only confirmed source quotations enter the recipient preview; original private claims and memory stay private. Missing or inaccessible passages block release. Review the full proposed card before approving.
  3. Choose an existing authorized Business workspace or a seven-day guest invitation. For email, first add a contact in Business details and record your permission to contact them. Importing an address does not establish permission.
  4. Approve and release the exact content. This grants scoped access and sends no email. Preview the invitation with its sender and recipient, then explicitly approve sending.
  5. Shared opportunities shows queued, accepted, delivered, failed, suppressed and unknown delivery states plus recipient responses. Accepted means the provider accepted submission; it does not prove inbox delivery.
  6. Withdraw ends guest reads and queued submissions. Verified owners retain legitimately acquired permitted published history; use Withdraw published disclosure for privacy/source-permission removal, which redacts retained payloads too. Source corrections and expiry stop stale actionable views. An email already sent cannot be recalled. Guest links are private bearer invitations; forwarding grants limited access until redeemed.
  7. Guests may give reversible feedback with an optional reason, request more like an item or request new access. These requests go to the Network and never change Goals, claim ownership or start research.
  8. Unknown submission outcomes are never retried automatically. Check the Resend dashboard, copy the email ID and use Verify provider submission. A read-capable API key is needed; unmatched messages cannot reconcile.

Configure Resend email delivery

Deployment administrators configure a verified sender and webhook before live invitations can send.

  1. Verify your sending domain in Resend and create a sending API key scoped to that domain. Add server-only EMAIL_ENABLED=true, RESEND_API_KEY, RESEND_FROM_EMAIL, DELIVERY_PUBLIC_URL, DELIVERY_TOKEN_SECRET and RESEND_WEBHOOK_SECRET to your deployment. Detailed instructions are in docs/setup.md.
  2. The public URL must be your actual HTTPS deployment origin. DELIVERY_TOKEN_SECRET must be a private random secret of at least 32 characters; keep it stable so existing invitations keep working. RESEND_REPLY_TO is optional.
  3. In Resend, configure /api/resend/webhook for sent, delivered, bounced, complained, failed and delivery_delayed events. Add its signing secret to RESEND_WEBHOOK_SECRET. Apply migration 021 after 020 and redeploy.
  4. For unknown-outcome reconciliation, optionally add RESEND_READ_API_KEY with read access, or use a read-capable main key. Synthetic previews always use fake mail, even when live keys exist.
  5. Email never sends on import, research completion, general assistant assent or recipient feedback. Suppressed contacts cannot be silently re-enabled.

Research

Run research directly from a Goal or recommendation view

Start an explicit search and follow saved progress in place.

  1. Choose Run research now in Opportunities, Recommendations or an active Goal. Network-wide views ask which Business to research; they never start a bulk search.
  2. Review the displayed payer and maximum when limits apply. The button explicitly submits the search using current saved context. A Goal button scopes it to that active Goal. Provide a public Business website if one is missing.
  3. While queued or running, an animated indeterminate bar and saved checkpoint text show what is happening. There is no invented completion percentage. Terminal states distinguish completed, partial, failed and paused.
  4. Saved research status reads never call AI or start another run. A completed run can have no qualifying recommendations. Use the Research page to stop an active run or inspect its saved limitations.

Getting started

Start with the assistant

Type your request or choose a guided action inside the conversation, then review the change.

  1. Open Assistant from the page header or the mobile launcher.
  2. For Business work, select the correct Business context. Type your request or choose a guided action inside the conversation.
  3. Answer questions in your own words, or use reply buttons when offered. Within a guided form, Back changes an answer and Cancel returns to the action list.
  4. Review the actual proposal before approving it. Preparing a proposal changes no saved Business memory.
  5. There is one assistant for every workspace writer. Type freely; suggested replies appear inside its messages when helpful. The arrow in the message box sends your request.
  6. Paste a URL or ask to inspect the saved website in chat; no inspection checkbox is needed. A clear request to run research starts one bounded run for the selected Business. Ambiguous scope or a missing maximum when limits apply prompts a question first.

Getting started

Approvals, stale proposals and undo

A draft is not a saved change. Approval always applies to the exact displayed scope and version.

  1. Check the workspace, Business and changed fields in the proposal.
  2. Approve configuration with its exact change button or confirm the displayed proposal in chat. A clear research request authorizes one paid run; a proposed research scope can be confirmed in chat or with its button. Checking status never starts another run.
  3. If saved context changed or the proposal expired, refresh and prepare a new proposal.
  4. Where available, View this proposal → Undo approved change restores the approved values only while their versions remain current.
  5. New Goal undo pauses it to retain history. CSV additions, Program changes and research do not have a general undo; use their ordinary correction, pause or stop controls.

Research

What research can inspect

Research uses permitted public HTTPS text and independently checks evidence before recommendations qualify.

  1. Website setup learns supported Business facts and offers attributable suggestions. Opportunity research uses saved active Goals and the current applied Program.
  2. Readable public HTML/text and short permitted crawl delays are supported within the bounded read. A directory entry is not a qualified opportunity or proof of ownership.
  3. Login-only/private content, PDFs, JavaScript-only pages, crawler exclusions and long waits are unavailable. Use another permitted source or provide literal Business details.
  4. Ask to run research for the selected Business, or confirm a research proposal. Saved progress explains the current stage. A run can honestly produce no qualifying result.
  5. Refresh reads persisted status without calling AI. Stop preserves potentially charged usage; immediate retries do not bypass source restrictions.

Recommendations

Find saved recommendations and their research

Browse full available history and follow the saved evidence without calling AI.

  1. In a Business workspace, choose All opportunities, My Goals or From Networks. Network and Goal filters include older available recommendations; Next and Previous move through the results.
  2. Discovered shows the recommendation’s saved date and local time. Older shared cards without an original discovery time show Shared instead. Event dates and evidence dates describe the source, not when the recommendation was saved.
  3. Details opens stored evidence. Useful and Not for us are feedback; My progress is personal. Undo or Reset reverses the corresponding action. Most relevant uses your saved actions and recency, not predicted buying intent.
  4. In a Network, Programs links to participating Businesses and their Research. If a Program changes, review and apply its updated Goals before requesting research. Applying it starts no research.
  5. Recommendations can link to the saved run that produced them. Research shows only the selected Business’s history; Load older research runs reads more saved records.
  6. Network-team prospecting has a separate view reached from a Network-team Program. Its Goals, research and staff-only recommendations stay separate from participating Businesses.

Workspace privacy and permissions

Business-owner memory and each Network’s sponsored context stay separate.

  1. Use the Workspace selector to work in an authorized workspace. Owner and read-only access affect available actions.
  2. A Network can change only its sponsored context. A Business workspace controls its own profile, Goals and preferences.
  3. Adding a Business creates a provisional record and Network relationship, not membership, claiming or permission to send email.
  4. Recipient access requires an eligible saved recommendation, an exact preview and an explicit grant to an existing Business workspace. Revoke access from that recommendation.
  5. Support receives only the ticket text you explicitly submit, your account reference and selected workspace. Chat history and Business memory are not attached automatically.

Help & support

When an action is unavailable or unclear

Use the action finder, knowledge base or a private support request.

  1. Describe what you need in Find a guided action and choose a suggested action. This searches the action list; it does not ask AI to execute the text.
  2. If no action matches, search this knowledge base or choose Submit a support request in chat.
  3. Include what you tried, what happened, what you expected and an optional displayed error reference. Review the text before submitting.
  4. Check /help/support → My requests for in-app replies. No email notification or response-time promise is made.
  5. Configured live invitations require separate exact approval. Verified claiming starts from a current guest invitation and requires inbox proof and authority review. Teams/digests are the next milestone 4 slices. Commercial billing, private bank records, telemetry and recurring native research schedules remain unavailable. The external MCP interface has separately authorized scheduling; a native chat action does not create one.
